Camping

Anthony took the kids camping. Yes, Anthony camping. They went somewhere practical, the backyard. My mother and I were the ones that pitched the tent. I was super grumpy about that fact being pregnant and not wanting to move. I guess it was a good trade off for not sleeping in a tent. I thought for sure the kids and Anthony would be back inside by 10pm. But to my amazement they made it the whole night. Only coming in once to use the bathroom. I did realize that this was true Anthony Kranz camping when I noticed the long power cord coming from the garage all the way to the tent. The kids loved every minute of it. Job well done!

Low Tide Seahurst

We ventured to Seahurst Park to observe the low tide which we have done in previous years. It is always fun to see the sea creatures hidden on the rocks and in seaweed. Having the naturalist there to explain creatures makes it a real treat.

Caramel and Rhett both enjoyed picking up starfish and crabs. Wonder when and if this joy of picking up sea live will change. We enjoyed seeing a couple other families there.

It was very windy at times but still good weather for hunting around. When we came back to our bags the seagulls had taken the caramel popcorn we had packed and made a nice sandy mess.

Hooks T-Ball

Caramel is on the Hooks T-ball team this summer season. She is learning all the great skills of throwing, catching, running bases, and hitting. Although at the beginning I had to bribe her with Cheetos at the end of practice, I believe she enjoys it at times. She gets tired easily or unmotivated (probably would never enjoy soccer).

The team played a game called Cleanies and Messies. Half the group tipped over cones and the other set them back up. All the other kids were swarming around tipping over and setting up. Caramel stayed next to one cone and as it would get tipped over by random teammates, Caramel would carefully set it back up. This is basically how she participates in all the games they play.
Caramel enjoys sitting and cheering for teammates.

She is one entertaining girl. One time during warm up, Coach had the team run to the fence and back. Caramel just started walking after everyone else took off like cheetahs (like the one on the Cheetos package). She then explained to Coach how she had a broken leg. Mmmm.......

Adventures in Bunk Beds

Picture A
Lots of sleeping during the night has been lost because of the bunk beds and siblings that love being unsupervised in a little room together.

Rhett does a wonderful job taking a nap by himself on the lower bed. He made the switch from crib to lower bunk bed sleeping very well.
Picture B
One time I went in there to check on him and couldn't find him. See Picture A. After looking and moving his Lightening McQueen blanket, I found him all sweaty underneath the bunk bed, Picture B. He only did that once, probably was making sure nothing needed fixing under the bed.

Nighttime sleeping is a whole different story. The easiest way to conquer the two is to have Caramel go to sleep first right at 8pm then bring in Rhett later and have him talk himself to sleep for an hour or even two! If Rhett could just make it through the day with no nap, bedtime would be early and quick basically enjoyable.

Two nights in a row I found Rhett had finally fell asleep right next to Caramel on the top bunk.
The most evil thing they will do when both are wake and unsupervised is lift up the floor vent and fill it with some random little toys that are super annoying to get out.

Once the kids are sleep making no noise or messes is when I realize how much I do love them and how precious they are! Can't wait for the next little boy!

5th of July

Anthony bought a couple of fireworks to do in the backyard. So we celebrated the 5th of July as well. We started after Caramel's t-ball game with some sparklers. Rhett did one then decided he didn't want to hold anymore sparklers. I was glad with this decision as I was already paranoid enough. Caramel enjoyed the sparklers and even did some dancing around with them. After that they kids sat down with Grandma Brenda and I to watch Anthony light a couple fireworks. The kids enjoyed the show- even clapping for the good job Daddy was doing.

4th of July

For the 4th of July, we went to Gene Coulon Park. Anthony dropped us off and parked in Lowe's parking lot. There were still lots of grass areas to spread out on. We got there around 6pm and had to fill in the time until the 10pm firework show. Grammy gave the kids reusable bags with gifts in them (Cars and Princess). The candy gifts were the first to be explored. We had a picnic dinner. Caramel enjoyed one of her favorite foods- corn on the cob. Next off to the play area- Rhett was well protected by Caramel at the park. She kept looking after him making sure he was okay. Then we walked around the water and listened to the band. The kids put their feet in the water for a little bit. Caramel stopped to smell the hydrangea until it was finally show time. Both the kids enjoyed the fireworks. They had forgotten what a firework show was like and found it pretty amazing once it started. I brought some glow sticks that Caramel decorated Anthony and I with calling us the king and queen. By the time we got home they were both asleep :)
