Berries and Snakes

We have our daily raspberry pick. If we miss a day or two, the raspberries can be bountiful. Strawberries didn't do that well, but we still had a bowl full one day. Blueberries, we are still waiting. Caramel always wants to pick raspberries but has to have a picking partner to go with her. Recipes ideas are flowing through her head constantly. She always has the great idea to sell her creations for "5 bucks" if any raspberries make it inside, she does have beggars to feed, little brothers. (Myles, the 2 year old, can get vicious and spill Caramel's bowl trying to get a berry or seven.) Applesauce with a raspberry and another random fruit in a muffin liner is the common recipe.
"Snakes, why did it have to be snakes?" One reason Caramel needs a picking buddy is because of the snakes. Harmless, but still snakes! We house a lot of Garter snakes in the backyard. The biggest we have seen is this one in the picture. We have seen smaller ones and even baby ones a few inches. Rhett is yelling next to the pile of sticks and blackberry vines that house the snakes, one is curled up on top sunbathing (totally out of focus).
