Cookie Monster

Rhett loves to make cookies. Totally a Cookie Monster boy. When he is trying to work hard to get a cookie he will say, "Mommy I don't need two cookies, just one cookie." After I organized the cookies on the sheet Rhett moved them closer to each other to make bigger cookies.

Rhett also loves oatmeal or as he calls it "oatmilk." I tried to slowly explain how to say oat-meal and he just says back louder oat-milk. Rhett loves to wake up around 7am demanding oatmilk. Some grumpy mornings, he will demand that the oatmilk not be hot then starts the explanation. Just distracting him to talk about something else normally is the trick.

Caramel loves to make brownies, well she loves the batter. I tell her she can have the bowl when I am done and she waits very impatiently. I gave her a spoon to collect the remains in the bowl which she used then declared she was done so I took the spoon. When I checked her again, she had her fist in her mouth with chocolate all over her mouth, hand, and one arm. Really, I thought, aren't you 5 years old then I realized that I love chocolate probably that much too. So I just said make sure you clean the chocolate off and you have it on your arm too. Crazy girl.

Recently I reminded the kids what hot cocoa is with the fall weather chilling the house -demands for that high.

Pumpkins and Grandpa Neil

Grandpa Neil came up for his pumpkin hunting visit. The kids were super excited. Caramel kept getting worried it would get canceled because we didn't do it immediately. Caramel and Rhett went with daddy to pick up Grandpa Neil at the airport. Myles didn't wake up for the morning until Grandpa was here and greeted everyone with a smile from his burrito folded blanket. Grandpa Neil always spoils that kiddos with gifts. Rhett McQueen got an awesome Lightening McQueen Halloween card.

Lucky for us the weather was wonderful. No huge mud puddles this year. The kids were super excited to go to the pumpkin patch and Remlinger's Farm. At Remlinger's Farm, we enjoyed their freshly made doughnuts, petting the farm animals, rides, hay jumping, train ride, pony ride and sitting on trackers. The kids always love feeding the animals but get reluctant when it happens. Snack of the day was caramel popcorn. I had never seen the parking lot so full at Remlinger's Farm with birthday and private parties going on.
Off we go!
Myles is ready to g!

Snow White looking good.

Silly kids.

Relaxing at the local park

Everyone playing at Myles's playground.
At the pumpkin patch they kids loved roaming through the field. Rhett kept tripping on the vines, "I tripped again," he would say looking down at the ground. Caramel was discouraged with all the pumpkin choices and declared, "this is useless," meaning she was never going to find the perfect pumpkin (so dramatic that girl). Myles enjoyed the wheelbarrow ride in his car seat.

Grandpa Neil picked out a pumpkin that looked good for a skeleton head carving. Anthony selected a huge pumpkin we could barely put in the wheelbarrow. Caramel and I picked out medium sized ones. Caramel has already decorated her pumpkin with permanent marker designs. Rhett selected a little hand sized pumpkin and Myles got one that size as well.

We ended with a tractor ride eating caramel popcorn.

Point Defiance Zoo

Took a little day trip one Friday there was no kindergarten to the Point Defiance Zoo. Would love to just walk around the Point Defiance area sometime. Driving there we saw some awesome cargo ships that were enormous. We spent a lot of time at the play area in the zoo which was nice for Myles and me. Only animals I had to see was the walruses, they are so huge and weird looking.
We spied a Caramel in the wilderness.
Two spiders crawling carefully.

Baby meerkats, super cute.

Double slide perfect for racing.
Rhett learning how to use a magnifying glass; Caramel making sure it is fake.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Myles looking serious but too tired to move.

Baby tiger, Caramel loved to look at.

Highlight of the trip- Caramel found ladybug- Rhett wondering if it edible.

Rhett's Baby

Rhett will make an excellent father. He found Caramel's baby Cinderella doll and started taking care of it. I asked Rhett what his baby's name was and he said Jason. (Rhett does have a friend with an infant brother named Jason.) Activities with Jason Cinderella included reading him/her sensory books making sure he/she felt the furry gorillas. Then feeding him/her with his chest. He has done this a couple times, I recall Caramel doing this when Rhett was an infant. The first time Rhett tried to feed his baby, he started whining and told Anthony that he couldn't find his chest and it was to small, so disappointing.

Caramel loves to ask the question, "Why do some babies drink from the chest or the bottle." I know she is sad she doesn't get to help give Myles a bottle.

Skeleton Girl

Caramel's costume! She was very excited. Loves, loves, loves the glow in the dark part. When Caramel is tallking about something she really likes she says, "I love, love, love......" When the missionaries came over she had to do a fashion show. Of course she had to practice some scary faces.

Costume Preview

Costume time! Myles sporting a dinosaur costume, makes a wonderful snugglesaurus. Myles quickly started crying and was happy when the fashion show was over. Love the tail!

Rhett has said he wants to be a pumpkin for Halloween and occasionally says "a monster truck this tall." He will either wear the pumpkin or a fire truck costume.

Caramel wants to be a skeleton this year which we are looking to buy or create. She is very anti anything beautiful. She tells me how she hates anything beautiful. When I buy her clothes they have to be "ugly and only a little bit beautiful."

Rock-n-Roll Mole

It is weird how the kids will pick out random books at the library that relate to real life situations. (Right before I was due to have Rhett, Caramel kept picking out books at the library about about becoming a big brother/sister which I thought has totally weird.) After going to the library Rhett came home with the book Rock'n'Roll Mole then the delivery man dropped off the mole traps. Yes, kids this music loving mole is the creature that is driving daddy crazy and wants to kill. We have had tons of dirt mounds from a mole this year. Three different areas in the backyard the mole likes to bring out his dirt. We have had several mud pies made from the kids because of all the extra dirt piled around. Here is a picture of the trap and one of large mound. Since the traps have been placed there hasn't been any activity, the weather has turned cooler.....only time will tell.

Walk-a-thon

Caramel's elementary school did a walk-a-thon which the PTA organized. Every student got this cute t-shirt. It was fun seeing Caramel's whole class walk out with the shirts on after school. I believe she walked with her neighbor friend, Cassidy the whole time. She completed seven laps (they got a straw handed to them each lap to kept track). Good practice for the family 5K we will be doing.
Rhett, Myles, and I stayed home and had some of the future Tiffany Park elementary students come over and play- Ryan, Carter, and Bentley. We played inside first (I got to cut out lots of laminated pictures for a Family Home Evening project) then we played outside. The crazy sunny weather here has been wonderful. It wasn't until the very end that they turned into real boys and started playing in the dirt.

Learning how to use tools- very important skill.

Learning how to watch the baby- another very important skill.

Learning how to check the battery- super important skill.

Learning how to share the road- extremely important skill.
